I think there's truth in @drgonzoinspace's comment. I don't think Pointerra is the cheapest/most functional tool available for what it does. However most companies who have have masses of pointcloud data (ie Powercor or utilities/rail companies) don't have someone with the expertise of @Geo360 to drive the workflow integration of an opensource products that require in house customisation.

Pointerra's best play imo is to be a risk free option for companies who are amassing point cloud data but have no convenient method to access the data. ( Same can be said for tech companies similar to decipher who want a viewer they can plug in without having to maintain it.)

I don't think Pointerra is revolutionary or even as good as some products out there but they can still make a lot of money by getting in first.
