I think comparing Pointerra's viewer as being more laggy or lacking in function compared to products xyz's viewer is missing the point. Pointerra's viewer is intended to be more a casual web-based demonstration application rather than a full on professional tool. Pointerra's business is hosting huge 3D datasets with sophisticated data compression and delivering efficiently it to workstations running professional tool suites from companies such as Autodesk, Bentley and ESRI.
That's why Pointerra's home page says that it is currently hosting and managing 6 trillion points of customer data. How many points are being directly hosted and managed by the open source viewers out there?
