That was my initial thinking and I came on here looking for something similar.
The only other thought is that with the gold price coming off recently (and oil price going up), and forecast for gold price to go lower for longer, people are speculating that there is an increased risk of a funding gap for WAF and they need to raise equity.
Getting as many operational synergies as they can make sense - particularly at this share price to stave off any need potential for equity.
