Nonetheless, one would consider that increased presence would reflect security cooperation between miners and higher levels of international pressure for US, UN involvement in protecting the country.
Whilst it was an horrific occurrence, the attack on the bus hours away from their mine, and further multiples away from WAF, is a vastly different threat to an attack on a mine. The bus was a soft target and more an indication of failing by Semafo management than the threat level to the large mines.
Just IMHO, noone can guess whats in terrorists plans, obviously.
