It is a good sign as it means no water saturation seen in the sands, as per the MWD tool, whilst drilling. Everything is recorded realtime so they r watching squiggly lines as the bit motors on deeper. Each line represents a certain parameter.
The probe sits behind the drillbit, so the sensor picks up the change in fluid phase & the gamma ray picks up sand/shale lithology shift (ie blocky or ratty/thin sands). With deeper wells it takes time before the drillmud brings the cuttings & gas to surface.
Resistivity logs pick up any oil.gas/water phase changeover. If & when that happens then the gas reading on the chromatograph starts to drop off during drilling as that is a sign that the sands r water saturated. (or water wet aka game over). I think they still have a while to go to TD, so fingers crossed for the deeper formations.
