West Kalkaroo diamond drillhole KKDD486, used for metallurgical testing back during September 2018, reported impressive composite assay results of (see image in Tweet below):
85 metres of 2.73 g/t gold
73 metres of 1.17% copper
This drill hole looks like it ended in gold and copper mineralisation in the chalcopyrite zone.
The 11 metre saprolite gold interval for example carries comparatively high grade gold (12.5 g/t) but only minor non-visible copper. KKDD486 drillhole is somewhat unusual in containing an interval of malachite# (14 metres of 2.65% copper and 3.5 g/t gold) apparently at the expense of a lower than normal grade intersection of native copper (20 metres of 0.55% copper and 0.58 g/t gold). As is typical, the chalcocite zone contains higher than average grades of copper and gold than the primary chalcopyrite zone.
# Malachite is a green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. Malachite often results from the weathering of copper ores. [Wikipedia]
The 3 diamond drillhole locations were said to be selected by Havilah as representative of the overall Kalkaroo copper-gold-cobalt deposit, and in particular of the four main styles of mineralisation.
Long, continuous copper and gold mineralised intersections in each case were said to be typical of the Kalkaroo copper-gold-cobalt deposit, as summarised below from the ASX Media Release dated 11 September 2018:
KKDD486 (West Kalkaroo):
85 metres of 2.73 g/t gold from 75 - 160 metres
73 metres of 1.17% copper from 87 - 160 metres
39 metres of 261 ppm cobalt from 121 - 160 metres (in sulphide zone only)
KKDD488 (Main Kalkaroo Ore Body):
68.3 metres of 1.29% copper
148 ppm of cobalt from 121 - 189.3 metres
60.3 metres of 0.48 g/t gold from 129 - 189.3 metres.
KKDD487 (Main Kalkaroo Ore Body):
16 metres of 1.16% copper from 114 - 130 metres
16 metres 0.59 g/t gold from 114 - 130 metres
Gold intersections from the horizontal clay-hosted Base of Tertiary (i.e. the o - 36.5 metre zone) gold mineralisation from each of these 3 locations were not reported in the ASX Media Release dated 11 September 2018.
Note: I would have undertaken a 4th diamond drillhole at the East Kalkaroo location (right hand side of the image in the Tweets above) given the major east-west trending quartz-carbonate veined breccia zone (fault) cuts through the Kalkaroo copper-gold-cobalt deposit also at that location.
It is well documented that the highest grades of gold and copper are at West Kalkaroo, near the fault zone.
Cheers
