It is interesting that - according to the ABC news report, KS airport can charge what they like. With Badgerys the government can put pressure on KS's fees, by setting a rules on charges and ROICs etc. I think the gov would prefer to make a lot of people happy over a small number, so I suspect KS will not be able to maintain such high returns, even if they own both airports, as Badgerys will be a bit more constrained, and will compete in one way or another. If SYD own it, at least they will be in a position to tilt the playing field to their advantage.
I don't see how it can be good news that the gov isn't tipping in anything, when prior to this there was an expectation of subsidies or cheap loans.
