No offence but that's how dividends work. Nothing sneaky about it.
If a company pays out $1bn in dividends, you as the shareholders receive the $1bn but the company has $1bn less now in cash, so the value of your shares drops by same.
With a DRP, the company keeps the cash so there is no loss in company value until they issue more shares, creating the dilution. So in either circumstance, cash or DRP, the company value reduces by the same.
