Ok smarty, so now the tea leaves are showing US inflation may be peaking (but seriously, 7.7% instead of consensus 8% it's all very marginal isn't it), the US markets have gone gangbusters overnight along with our futures. Some growth stocks are up near 10% overnight.
So do you deploy that cash NOW or WAIT?
If you wait you might miss another 3% next week, and again the week after. Maybe this is the turnaround point and anyone who procrastinates misses the whole rally?
But if you deploy it's just as likely another shock comes along (Russia takes out a dam near Kherson? Another pipeline explosion?) and everything reverses.
Personally I'm defensively invested so won't do as well as many today but I'll still do pretty well I expect. But BEST of all I won't be stressing about trying to time a market re-entry.
We've all seen those graphs about the impact on performance of missing the "best" and "worst" 20 trading days. At least I'm looking forward to participating in one of the better ones today. Good luck.
