True, you should probably not start a sentence with either 'and' or 'but'. It is a device that operates like an exclamation mark.
I am giving less weight now to the idea that higher interest rates would increase NIMs and bank profits. I am now leaning more towards the idea that a poor macro will sort ill with punters and that banks will share the travails of their customers. Something like that.
I have done well out of banks these last 12 months but happy to be now sitting on cash and watching quietly.
