Peter Van Onselen is quite close to Labor people and Ainslie Van Onselen, his wife, used to work for Westpac so Westpac could stack their public affairs team with Labor people and get a lot more money laundering, governance, risk and compliance folks to stave the bleeding and perhaps get business off the fast demerged CBA, the reg scandal prone NAB and the pro LNP Macquarie.
There might be a way for Westpac to succeed even prosper but it will come with more compliance and regulatory costs under Labor, of that IMHO a Labor future will be certain to increase costs.
