I am always gobsmacked by the fact that these banks can behave so illegally, yet they are only fined. Who is actually penalised? Ordinary Australians, via our superannuation or reduced personal share prices! It doesn't matter what the size of the fine is, the board doesn't pay it. Why are they allowed to "negotiate" their way out of it by using shareholder funds? When are criminal charges going to be laid to those responsible? Why is it that ordinary Australians take the hit? This is a joke. What's also a joke is the trickle of information we get about what's actually going on. I thought the market should have access to all information, that is a pillar of our system. How many people would not have taken up the SSP offer if they were given this information earlier? Where is ASIC?
