If the cost of investigating a person who gains $3k costs ATO $3k, it would not do it. They can detect something with data matching but combing through the records manually to verify that the person actually tried to avoid tax and having that person arguing on such vague rule ... is just making no sense. They will try to catch the big players who have hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit or more.
I think the share price could be around 23.20 by the time of the buyback. It is not worth it for those who bought the shares over 25 to sell into this buyback unless they plan for replacement shares right now.
