Your immediate "scary" line manager was offshore who cracked the whip and wanted speed of delivery. However "topics" were raised and it was always if it's not in the spec you don't build it or it's not required. Mainly if the line manager/business analyst thought of it, it was their idea but they didn't have a finance background. They had "IT" skills.
SPEED was top priority not quality. The goal was to "build" a product, showcases, get claps/cheers, have a bender on free Friday night drinks.
Offshores didn't even have the skills and business knowledge of banks, they were "taught" by locals and removed once used. So they're never going to raise their voice. They are yes people and want to stay in Australia on their Visas.
Compare the people at CBA and the quality of work that comes from them. They're LOCALS!
