I don't think STX has been formally approached but I'm pretty sure all the big players have been sniffing around, i think the merge with WGO has been on & off for a long time & imo it should have happened ages ago.
I think BPT, Gina & MIN have been sitting & watching, when STX/WGO merger proposal was announced that was the trigger imo.
I agree WGO is the side show & is the cheap entry into STX for Gina & MIN's bigger plans (both need a heap of gas for 20+ years for their projects) but i believe STO (need a heap of gas as evident by purchasing gas from STX) , Mitsui (rumour is the last 2 watsia wells are duds so may need more gas) WDS, BP, Chevron & others (backfill for NWS) are also looking, so STX is in a very good spot & it's early days in this process.
Oh! i nearly forgot there's also Haber which would see us way north of $1 if we can get through not being taken out
