Wildcat Resources Announce Promising Lithium Intercepts at Taba Taba

Wildcat Resources Announce Promising Lithium Intercepts at Taba Taba

Wildcat Resources (ASX:WC8) is making headway at its Taba Taba Lithium Project, located near Port Hedland in Western Australia, announcing encouraging initial diamond drill results, reporting five holes returned significant lithium intersections over widths of 92 metres to 135 metres.

    Promising Results

The Tabba Tabba Project is an advanced lithium and tantalum exploration project, strategically located near some of the world’s largest hard-rock lithium mines including the 414Mt Pilgangoora Project and 259Mt Wodgina Project.

The Project is one of four significant LCT pegmatite projects in WA, with the others three; Greenbushes, Pilgangoora and Wodgina, already advancing into Tier-1 hard-rock lithium mines. Tabba Tabba is the last of these assets to be explored for lithium mineralisation and thus holds significant potential for Wildcat.

The Leia Pegmatite is one of six significant pegmatite prospects located on the property within a 3.2 kilometre field.

Assays returned from first diamond drill holes at Leia include:

    • 99.0 metres @ 1.2% Li2O from 207.0 metres (TARC234D) (est. true width)
      • Within 135.0 metres @ 0.9% Li2O from 179.0 metres
    • 69.9 metres @ 1.2% Li2O from 399.0 metres (TARC245D) (est. true width)
      • Within 123.4 metres @ 0.9% Li2O from 350.7 metres
    • 60.3 metres at 1.4% Li2O from 297.8 metres (TARC161AD) (est. true width)
      • Within 111.4m at 0.9% Li2O from 246.6m
    • 64.4 metres @ 1.3% Li2O from 225.0 metres (TARC154AD) (est. true width)
      • Within 94.0 metres @ 1.0 % Li2O from 206.0 metres
    • 44.7 metres at 1.3% Li2O from 406.3 metres (TARC2644D) (est. true width)
      • Within 94.8 metres at 0.9% Li2O from 361.9 metres

The Leia Pegmatite offers significant exploration opportunities as it remains open and more than 2.2 kilometres in strike, with outcrops for one kilometre, and has already been intercepted 450 metres+ vertically from surface, estimated to be up to 180 metres wide.

The most significant result to date at Leia intersected at 4.97% Li2O in TARC245D from 369-369.4 metres and the adjacent sample assaying 4.63% Li2O at 369.4-370.2 metres. These zones correlate with geological logging of intervals of abundant coarse spodumene.

Wildcat completed 36 diamond drill holes at Leia, with assay still pending.

The drilling campaign at the Taba Taba Project has been aggressive, with the Company completing 174 RC drill holes, 24 diamond tails and four full length diamond drill holes for a total of 42,838 metres since drilling commenced in July 2023.

Wildcat reports on average, that it was drilling eight holes per week in late 2023 at Taba Taba, with this number only expected to increase as it ramps up exploration plans for 2024.

    Future Outlook

The Company reports that exploration is only expected to ramp up with drilling recommencing in January to continue to explore for the limits of Leia.

Drilling at Tabba Tabba’s numerous high-priority pegmatites will continue to be a focus as many still remain under-explored or undrilled.

Infill drilling is expected to commence at Leia in the new year, in addition to progress permitting and evaluation studies for Tabba Tabba.

    Company Comments

Wildcat Resources Managing Director Samuel Ekins commented on the results.

“Leia’s first diamond core assay results are impressive and reinforce our belief that the Tabba Tabba pegmatite system and in particular Leia, has potential to be amongst the tier one lithium projects globally, located on granted mining leases, close to some of WA’s biggest lithium operations and infrastructure,” he said.

“Of the six pegmatite prospects we have identified at Tabba Tabba, Leia is the largest and we continue to unlock significant value in drilling.”

WC8’s Australian Stock Exchange-listed share price is currently trading at $0.725 (10.15am UTC+ 8 hours).
