so as many astute people were playing out after the AZS of $3.50 by SQM and GR coming onboard during to take a 20% , there is news articles online in the last couple of hours speculating a combined GR and CE bid for AZS, obviously higher than $3.5. for those watching the price action in AZS this was a clear tell with the price trading up as high as $3.7. Take over premium over SQM of what 10-15% is circa $3.90-$4.
also many retailers who sold to GR at the $3.48-$3.5 rather than wait for the offmarket transaction in Q1-24 , many based on falsely extrapolating the LTR experience, have potentially missed the opportunity of the revised takeover bid. Of course i dont assume they sunk their money into another investment and are up already on that (or will be)
if articles are true on the speculation what that means is
A) revised upward pricing model for Wildcats potential deposit valuation. let people work their own metrics for that. I got mine.
B) it shows CE is prepared to take a majority stake and offer a bid for a potential tier 1 deposit. so talk of him staying at 20% on wildcat probably off the mark!! in fact IMO already is since in any landscape he isnt going to allow management to develop it and remain as a minority holder of a lowly 20%. remember Wodgina is a 40/60 JV that he has with Albemarle and from memory that is a recent change from the previous 50/50 they had (stand to be corrected on that).
