I would say Chinese interests are mixed. 70-80% electric car battery come from China, they will want to make sure they got cheap raw materials like lithium, nickel etc.
However, only about 20% of lithium mines and brine producers are located in China. So China have similar or even less influence compared to Australia and Chile. And these three countries will have less and less influence with more production come from Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, North America etc.
