Is this outcome good for SMR? I think it's hard to know. SMR board must have known pretty well how the voting would turn out.
    1. If the motions were clearly going to pass, would Golden have agreed this compromise with SMR?
    2. If the motions were clearly going to be rejected, would SMR have agreed this compromise with Golden?
    My answers are
    1. No way.
    2. Possibly.
My thinking is that Golden has a significant holding in SMR, and the board may feel that they need to tread carefully. Rather than take Golden on head-on, and risk destabilising the company (and incurring high costs of EGM etc), they may be thinking that they can buy a bit of time. Jimmy Lim was I think the proposed "independent" director so possibly not all that heavily tied to Golden, The two directors that were to have been removed both stay, so Golden are nowhere near even halfway to their original objective.

All sorts of things could happen now, to change the situation again - a renewed push by Golden, selling out by Golden, a takeover bid from a third party, even maybe a takeover bid by Golden, or quite likely something that I haven't thought of.

In the meantime I'm happy to keep holding the shares and to make sure that I have adequate supplies of popcorn.
