Not a replacement but a safer,cheaper complimentary alternative in particular applications as mentioned by IV.
Stationary applications in particular.
Renewables struggle with baseload supply. Storage is essential. EVs will absorb a huge portion of Li ion. EVs need to be charged.
Zn ion is a safe option less prone to overheating/fire, reassuring if on the wall of your house.
Li supply demand is certain to encounter supply and price stresses.
