Nelson Resources Ltd (ASX:NES) is looking forward to an exciting year ahead with its flagship Woodline Project and the Tempest Project, both in Western Australia, being the focus of the gold explorer’s attention.

The explorer believes its 828-square kilometres Woodline Project, on the boundary of the Albany Fraser Oregon and the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone belt, could host a Tropicana-style deposit, which produces around 450,000 ounces of gold per annum.

Nelson has five wholly-owned projects - Woodline, Tempest, Fortnum, Yarri and Wilga Well - in Western Australia across 956 square kilometres.

    Woodline Project

The company completed its planned reconsolidation of the Woodline project and finalised an 18-month review of the large Woodline data set it acquired. This has generated an exploration model for the project that will guide its future exploration programs.

    Planned work programs include:
    ➢Cundeelee Fault (Tropicana-scale potential)

Nelson Resources plans to carry out about 3,000 metres of RC drilling within the anomaly during the remainder of 2020 to demonstrate the presence of a larger gold system and the potential for a large Tropicana-scale discovery. It will also carry out geophysics over the more than 20 kilometres long gold geochemical and bedrock anomaly to generate targets for future drilling.

    ➢Claypan Fault (Socrates)

It has already carried out around 8,400 metres of reverse drilling (RC) drilling and plans to carry out a geophysics program to better map three parallel potentially gold-bearing structures that have been identified. This will be followed up with around 1,500 metres of RC drilling and 1,500 metres of aircore drilling to follow-up on targets identified by the geophysics.

It hopes to be able to declare a resource at Socrates in 2021.

    ➢Keith-Kilkenny Fault (Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt)

Subject to the results of the geophysics, Nelson Resources may drill around 3,000 metres of aircore drilling to follow-up on any targets that look promising for both gold and base metals.

    Tempest Project

For the remainder of 2020, the company plans to undertake geophysics programs at the Tempest project, 250 kilometres east-southeast of Kalgoorlie and 90 kilometres northeast from Nova-Bollinger Mine and covering 105 square kilometres. They are aimed at mapping the extent of the paleochannel and defining RC drill targets for 2021.

Nelson Resources may look to fly an EM survey to potentially identify and base metal conductors as IGO Limited (ASX:IGO) is conducting a large moving loop EM program at the Thunderstorm project adjacent to Tempest.

    JV partner for Fortnum Project

The company is also in talks with a potential joint venture partner for its Fortnum project within the Peak Hill Mineral Field, about 14 kilometres southwest of the Fortnum Mining Centre. There are four gold mineralisation prospects on the tenure. The Fortnum project tenement was granted in the 2019 September quarter and totals 21 square kilometres.

    Yarri project

Nelson Resources is seeking other sales and development opportunities for its Yarri Project after Haddison Limited withdrew from a 3-month option agreement it had signed in May.
