Interesting, for me, is that this is pretty much exactly what the media speculation has been lately. BHP exiting all their oil and gas assets and WPL "buying" them all. I sold most of my holdings in the last week (still have a few kicking around somewhere) but wasn't enamoured by the prospect of picking up e.g. Bass Straight. Some obvious plusses for the combined company as well so I don't think its a straightforward comparison. Might have to wait a little while for the market to appreciate this announcement.
