TotalEnergies starts drilling critical Namibia appraisal probe on potentially huge Venus oil discovery

"TotalEnergies has spudded a critical and highly anticipated appraisal probe offshore Namibia that will go a long way to revealing the scale of its potentially huge Venus oil and discovery.

A clear indication of the size of Venus comes from the fact that the appraisal well just spudded by drillship Tungsten Explorer is 13 kilometres from the discovery well, a bold step-out that is almost unheard of in exploration circles.

Furthermore, TotalEnergies will also spud an exploration well called Nara-1 in adjacent Block 2912 on a vast prospect that was a key trigger for the huge resource estimates emerging from the exploration community last year.
