I have summarised all recent acquisitions below.
These big mammas are not interested in JVs. They just buy you outright. .
what it is WORLD CLASS, is the size of the resource, and the location (existing road, gas, power, low Mg:Li ratio, free evaporation unlike USA/China brine projects). Not just the grade.
If I use the so-called known deep sand unit boundary, these covers at least 6,000 ha on the area LEL is drilling.
Using lower aquifer only, at 400ppm (average so far for deep sand brine), and with tested yield of 14%, the resource for 300m of depth sits at 5M tn LCE. Add the upper aquifer, another 1 to 2 M tn LCE.
At minimum US$100/tn LCE, this resource could fetch >US$ 400M..... Hence the World Class definition.
Allkem should buy to prevent others doing so, same for LAC/Ganfeng, which are neighbours. But I think this is an open door to all interested parties looking for a decent 25,000 tpa to 50,000 tpa production site. Given that Gotion/VW is building a refinery in Jujuy, I believe they are the best bet, as this production site will effectively pay off their refinery capex in 2-3 years or less. Maybe Albemarle can buy it too, and then take over ALLKEM.... like the rumours say.
