I don't think a CEO would want a smudge(negative) against his/her name whilst under his tenure on his formal career resume, that wouldn't be something that would be seen in the corporate world as being competent under their leadership at the time, if they weren't confident in a company overall, I'm 100% sure they wouldn't put their reputation on the line so to speak.
