Perhaps another way @Toddk could have wrote his message in order for it to be more clear, could have been:

Instead of "he's exactly left Intel to another company that was doing dealings with them back to intel"

Perhaps should of read - Marty left Intel to join Verizon, a company that Intel was doing dealings with, and then returned to Intel.

Toddk isn't referring to Xped and therefore Marty's current employment status is irrelevant. Toddk is making a point about Marty, and Xped, maintaining an ongoing relationship with Intel undamaged by this appointment. Something that Mal was proposing as being a potential issue, suggesting Intel would be emotionally scarred by Marty's departure and no longer wanting anything to do with him now they were no longer BFF's
