If you can supply your customer ex stock they will not look for another supplier.In fact you can attract out of stock competitors' customers.
Yes means carrying a bit more stock and having a slightly lower stock turn,but higher revenue and profits make it well worthwhile.
Supplying what customers want when they need it ,they seldom look elsewhere.
