Making too much of the silent background video :
As a developer for over 25 years, I myself consider this a non-issue. I do however share some of your other concerns about showing a buggy product - demo or not - to customers.
- xTV networks are largely meant for display on large screens in public places. Having a background video playing attracts the public and immediately tells them that this display is here for the purpose of viewing videos. Its not about listening to the video that is playing, and it likely that the sound would be an annoyance to many nearby if it were to run continuously.
- For demo purposes (xTV to potential customers), why would they want to load up the network only to have to immediately turn down the volume to deliver the presentation?
- These demos present the default setup for xTV. I am pretty certain if a customer wanted an audio with their background video, its a very simple setting to change.
