Haven't read most of this thread, but what I don't understand is how can SQM buy half of KDR, which is within Australia, but a small % of AVZ cannot be bought by a foreign company when AVZ's mine is not even in Australia?
Ok, against the national interest because it will send the Oz lithium companies broke, but if an Australian based company does not develop Manono, somebody else will as the ultra short payback period described in the DFS is too good to ignore.
RIO and FMG, for example, are not against mining in foreign companies. Hence, perhaps a large Australian company may takeover AVZ one day, or buy 50% like Wesfarmers did with KDR.
