While researching SGs I came across some ways to look at what the early results at Yin might mean in terms of possible future mining.
The interplay between grades, size, depth etc seen in Hastings mining plans gives a potential model for what could happen in some areas of Mangaroon for the REE ironstones. Some extracts sourced from this announcement
6 deposits give the Proven and Probable ore reserves for HAS. Grades are, to me, a tad low but with good light REE ratios compensating to provide good IGV for the deposits. Good to see sub 1%Treo is considered in the ore reserve. [Ore once they start mining and make money]
Ore sorting technology is rapidly improving and may be a part of HAS's mine plans.
=====================
There are plans available for all the proposed mining sites with those below given to show what could be the case for Yin and others in DREs Mangaroon project.
Multiple small pits with varying depths and complex designs that reflect the rapid changes in the 'ironstone' dykes with depth.
Locations on HAS thorium map.
============================================
Some detail on individual deposits from a mining perspective.
Dip of deposit and thickness combined with other data.
Deposit Declination
(degs)Ave true thickness
(m)vertical m 1 Bald Hill 0 to 60 4.6 80 2 Fraser's 5 to 65 3 140 3 Auer 60 to 80 4.3 150 4 Auer North 65 to 85 3.2 120 5 Simon’s Find 25 to 55 3.4 70 6 Yangibana 30 to 65 3.3 100 7 Yangibana West 10 to 30 3.9 ? 8 Yangibana North 5 to 20 4.9 ?
The vertical depth is consistent with .estimates made for Yin above. Thicker zones of potentially higher grade could possibly be mined to even greater vertical depths.
Mining depth and range of thickness.
==============================
Good to see zones with thickness ranging up from 1m to 11m are being considered mineable to 150m vertically which includes the entirety of the better sections at Yin.
The 7350200N earliest section highlights the size difference with HAS average thicknesses.
The thinner sections peripheral to the main zones at Yin could be mineable, in part, by simple pit extensions governed by economics.
The dip variations are common to both sides of the Lyons River fault.
Ore sorting technology is rapidly improving and may be a part of HAS's mine plans.
