Australia ‘perfectly positioned’ for energy transition: US

Major opportunities have opened up in the United States to Australian battery metals, critical minerals and clean hydrogen companies due to the introduction of a landmark package of legislation supporting clean energy, according to one of the Biden administration’s most senior climate diplomats.

Rick Duke, the US deputy special envoy for climate, said Australia had an explicit invitation to join in the supply chain work needed to boost battery manufacturing and other applications to underpin the transition to low-carbon energy in the world’s biggest economy.
He said the US was eager to see the alliances unfold into action ahead, adding: “I think much more is possible in coming months and years.
“Because of these durable, more-than-a-decade incentives for deployment of all these solutions in the American economy, that does also present substantial opportunities for Australian foreign direct investment in the United States economy.”

The opportunity it opens up has been highlighted by, among others, iron ore billionaire and green hydrogen advocate Andrew Forrest and Tritium CEO Jane Hunter, whose EV fast charging company this month opened its first factory on American soil. (THEN TWIGGY PILED INTO HASTINGS).

Mr Duke’s visit builds on that by US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in July, when Australia and the US signed a new climate technology partnership and alliances to secure the global supply of critical minerals with the aim of reducing reliance on China in important areas of technology needed for the transition.

Companies like DRE will get in the fast lane. Govts need to speed up all the 'slow tape' they have created over the years for mining projects and get these things pumping imo. One thing to talk a lot, it is another to deliver imo.
Politically, we have had a problem for decades. For example, the Greens are anti mining and pro renewable at the same time. They have read tooooo many Harry Potter books. Good luck decarbonising the world without the critical metals and elements we get from mining. You can't have one without the other.
Go DRE, hit those tasty Carbonatities.
