most iron ore holes are angled. drilling starts outside the ore in waste for some meters and then through and then out the other side. most likely some waste then 'weathered' means air got to it (near the surface). when they issue assays they will be required to state depths. looking at past results it shows ore starts near surface and some at surface. not sure if weathered iron ore is used in magnetite or if it is waste.
