"Imminent" - ready to take place, coming, likely to happen soon, a situation arriving that cannot be stopped. Rather than something good, imminent can more often be used in the context of something bad or dangerous being menacingly near, or to describe an event of an unpleasant nature which is unlikely to be stopped. For example, if you light a firecracker and drop it down your pants, a bad outcome with probable loss is imminent.
