Why is Zoleo past its expiry date? Garmin still investing in the product segment and they are basically the only two entrants now. If anything it is curious Garmin see such a strong future and extends the market. It's good having Garmin advertising, educating people on the product and generating buzz when Zoleo is an affordable alternative and often used as a comparison in any review.
Beam is a partner in the Certus IMT service with Iridium that enables sending larger amounts of data which enables this picture messaging to work. (Beam's latest deck says their recurring revenues from Certus IMT is due to kickoff from 1Q25, I think they mentioned September announcement in the recent webinar).
Lastly, this new Garmin device is $500 USD, so there is plenty of room for Zoleo to offer same functionality and undercut that price.
Regardless, it still hinges on what the outcome is. I'll admit I didn't think it would take this long to complete after the final submissions. That is frustrating for sure.
