Pointless discussion mate. I referenced your comment to the 24th Century to put it in the context you meant.

Mining will increase it's tendency toward electric. There's already heaps of gear out there. Have a look at how many coal cutters in the Bowen Basin are electric.

Falun will in likelihood start as an opencut (possibly a cutback on the existing pit). They won't be mining ore from 8m down by underground methods.

The complexity of opencut versus underground is far more intricate than just an issue of energy. The factors are endless.
