Canning basic well known for oil sniffs .. only for them to float away! If they'd found something worthwhile, we'd have a report today! I suspect they just doing proper testing/coring/examining all reservoir zones especially lower source rocks.
USG is longer term if at all. old source rocks may not be too gassy/oily? expensive to drill too! BF probably in wrong location for proper USG test?
