ANZ’s capital position further strengthened
ANZ today announced its pro-forma 2008 post-DRP Tier 1 capital ratio stands at 8.35%, up from
8.1%.
This follows confirmation by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority of treatments proposed
by ANZ for a number of capital calculations. Principally this concerned changing the treatment of
goodwill in associates to a 50/50 deduction against Tier 1 and Tier 2 rather than as a 100% Tier 1
deduction.
ANZ capital position remains among the strongest of the major Australian banks.
