No big mystery - it's Anna Bligh trying to play hardball for the cameras in the face of rock-bottom polls. The reason they had to come down hard on Cougar has vanished because the test was an error.

So how to prolong the farce? Easy, just blame Cougar for not reporting the results earlier.

Len has already explained the issue - it naturally takes time for routine test results to be returned and according to him everything was done properly and promptly

There are reports going around of the first results being reported in April, but that seems to be a media invention. Neither DERM or Cougar has mentioned anything about it. DERM specifically states the 'tainted' water was sampled on June 29 and was "a very low level exceedance of benzene." We now know there was no exceedance of benzene at all, even at the plant itself.

Unfortunately Cougar is a scapegoat for Bligh's appalling governance.
