Dear Sir
Activities Update
Sundance Energy Australia Limited is pleased to advise that the first well in its six to eight well 2005 U.S. drilling program is expected to spud on or about 22 May 2005; the drill site has been built and Sundance’s operator, Deka Exploration Inc., is awaiting the rig’s arrival, which rig Sundance expects to keep fully engaged through year end. This first well in Sundance’s Arkoma Basin Drilling program, located in the state of Oklahoma (the fifth largest oil and third largest gas producing state in the U.S.) will be the second to be drilled by the Company (following its Kitson 1 in PEL 88) since its successful capital raising and ASX listing on 28 April 2005.
Sundance’s Arkoma Basin properties are known for their stack of productive formations which include the Booch, Gilcrease, Hartshorne, Wapanucka, Union Valley limestone, Jefferson and Cromwell sandstones, Caney Shale, Woodford shale, Hunton, Viola limestone and the Wilcox. Sundance’s exploration strategy in this play will focus on gas sands and non-conventional reservoirs, namely tight fractured gas saturated shales similar to the successful Barnett shale play in Texas. However, Sundance views all of the identified horizons as prospective given that the acreage surrounding the prospect has had either production, offsetting production, or oil and gas shows from each of these zones. A comprehensive overview of the Ashland Prospect was lodged with the ASX as part of Sundance’s Prospectus, a copy of which can be found on the company’s website at www.sundanceenergy.com.au.
Sundance’s position in its Arkoma prospect has decidedly strengthened through its ongoing leasing initiative with the addition of more than 400 acres over the last month, increasing its total acreage position in the play from 5320 to more than 5700 acres. Sundance’s leasing activities will continue as its U.S. drilling program proceeds.
Yours sincerely
Sundance Energy Australia Limited
