ENGIN AGREEMENT CONNECTS LOVED ONES WITH
AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE PERSONNEL

to provide VoIP services to our service men and women
Sydney, 7th November 2005: engin, the Australian broadband phone company,
today announced an exclusive agreement with Connecting the Community
Programme (CTCP), an Australian private sector initiative, which delivers welfare
support and communications infrastructure to communities from all corners of
Australia. engin will work to provide Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to
Australian defence personnel and their families based in Australia.
Under the wholesale agreement and through CTCP’s ‘Stand-to’ project, which
provides a range of services sourced from corporate Australia to enhance the quality
of living for today’s Australian defence force, engin will allow Australian army, navy
and air force troops in bases across Australia to stay in contact with colleagues,
friends and family locally, nationally and abroad using engin’s low cost broadband
telephony call rates and VoIP technology.
Today’s announcement will enable those who keep our nation secure the added
support of easy and low-cost communications with their families and friends. In
addition it demonstrates engin’s continued momentum and ongoing commitment to
increasing its presence across Australia. engin’s selection as the VoIP provider for
‘Project Stand-to’ demonstrates the increasing acceptance of broadband telephony
as a true alternative to traditional fixed line carriers.
All services supplied to the defence personnel through the ‘Project Stand-to’, such as
engin’s VoIP technology, are vetted by welfare organisations prior to their release to
market to ensure competitive pricing, quality of supply, and relevance to today’s
defence personnel. A variety of broadband communications technologies are
expected to be used to deliver the VoIP services to the defence personnel.
