As previously announced on 20 September 2011, Axiom KB Limited (‘Axiom KB’), the Solomon Island joint venture subsidiary of Axiom Mining Limited (‘Axiom’), intended to appeal the decision handed down in the High Court of Solomon Islands on 16 September in the civil case of SMM Solomon Limited (‘Sumitomo’) v Solomon Islands Government, Axiom KB and the registered landowners of Kolosori, Santa Isabel Island (‘Isabel’).

The appeal was lodged and has now been set down for hearing in the Solomon Islands Court of Appeal on 23 November 2011. The matter being appealed is the interim injunction granted by the High Court which has prevented Axiom KB from progressing its exploration activities on Isabel under its existing Prospecting Licence and executing its Letter of Intent for the grant of a Prospecting Licence on San Jorge Island.

The Board of Axiom remain confident of a successful outcome in the appeal.
