We did notice that effect because our packer spacing was small (target zone was only 1-2m so packer spacing was 6m) and we noticed the huge spike in pressure when they inflated the packers.

But that wasn't the problem because we had several good seats in the same well and even retesting the same zones. Also, I work in tight gas so tombstone reservoirs are depressingly common and we don't normally have this problem.

All the failures happened when they tried to re-seat the packers for a second test. The first test was always fine. So as long as they ran one test, tripped out, then tripped back in we were okay.

As you said, we had the answer from that and from the good tests so we didn't bother spending too much energy to resolve the argument.

So the DST guys still think it was formation problems, the geos still think it was mechanical. ;)
