Drilling results highlight commercial potential of Warro gas project

Intersection of thick reservoir provides excellent target zones for July stimulation program to test flow rates

Transerv (ASX: TSV) is pleased to advise that the latest drilling results from the Warro onshore gas project in WA have confirmed the field?s significant potential, with the intersection of high-quality tight gas sands in the reservoir section from 3750m to the 4137m target depth.

The logs from the Warro-4 well have also confirmed the continuation and strong correlation of the reservoir section and sand zones with the three previous Warro wells.

The Warro joint venture has completed its review of the Warro-4 logs and Transerv confirms that the reservoir section is very similar in thickness, quality and net-to-gross ratio to that encountered in the three previous Warro wells. The logs indicate the presence of a number of thick gas pay sections that will provide excellent target zones for fracture stimulation.

The log data was recorded while drilling using LWD tools and has provided much higher quality and more reliable logs than recorded in the three previous Warro wells. The LWD data not only confirms the presence of producible gas throughout, but also that the reservoir quality appears better than observed in Warro-3 with porosity readings approximately 10 per cent higher than previously estimated.

Transerv Managing Director Stephen Keenihan said that to simplify the flow testing program, initial testing will focus on two of the eight potential reservoir sections representing approximately 30 per cent of the total potential net pay in the Warro reservoir sands.

?The aim is to achieve a stabilised flow rate from these two zones that can then be extrapolated across the other zones, which have similar reservoir characteristics, to establish a likely total flow rate? Mr Keenihan said. ?This potential flow rate can then be further extrapolated assuming a horizontal well. Accordingly, Transerv would consider a result of 2mmcfpd combined for these 2 sections a successful outcome for Warro-4.?

The planned reservoir stimulation across the two primary sandstone intervals in Warro-4 is currently expected to take place in July. The equipment is currently engaged in the Cooper Basin and precise Warro-4 timing is dependent upon the completion of that operation.
