I believe the best way to approach funding is to ask the operator to drill for a interest in the well. Rather than be an employee they can be a partner and there could be a far better approach by them in their attitude to drilling.
Hopefully less delays and drilled sooner.
Some operators do work on this basis time to time if they like the chances of success.
