    stockrocks old chap,

    hydrogen always occurs naturally as H2. that is two atoms in a molecule. this is because H has a single electron in an orbital that has two as a magic number. hence two atoms share the electrons in a stable configuration. note that helium has the two electrons to fill the ground state orbital and is an inert (non reactive)gas. producing H by electrolysis is easy but not cheap. though i did not know it was so expensive.
