Yep options are a mixed bag for raising cash ,on the one hand it can be a reward for shareholder to get bonus options, but the conversion is not a sure thing and a lot of holders sell there heads to pay for the conversion which in turn drives down the share price.
This selling pressure may not be great timing as we are all discovering.
I prefer a CR at a fixed date and a smaller number of options - which should be viewed as bonus cash if they get converted. A CR will almost always drive down the price but it is not as drawn out as the option conversion process, and once delt with the share price often quickly resumes the upward trend in place before the CR.
Just an opinion based on experience and observation.
