HIGHLIGHTS
• Diamond inventory in Pipes 4 and 9 increases A$111 million in
value to A$980 million and open at depth.
• 300 tonnes per hour diamond recovery plant (2.2 million tonnes
per annum) commissioned on 12 May 2004.
• 74,512 diamonds weighing 23,136 carats produced in the
quarter, of which 11,094 carats were sold at an average price
of A$384 per carat.
• 3 new diamond pipes, Kimberley 28, Kimberley 34 and
Kimberley 35 discovered.
• 7.62 carat diamond recovered from exploration work in gravels
adjacent to Ellendale Pipe 11.
• Pit 81 in Terrace 5 Blina alluvials returns grade of 9.8 carats per
hundred tonnes (cpht) with average stone size of 0.45 carats.
• Pit 82 in Terrace 5 Blina alluvials yields a spectacular 8.44
yellow diamond with average stone size of 1.52 carats.
• Abnormally high microdiamond counts from a depth below
current mining operations reported from a drill hole at Ellendale
9 East suggesting grade might increase significantly.
• The largest diamond ever found at Ellendale, an 11.83 carat
vivid yellow clean stone was recovered from Ellendale 9 west
pit in early July.
• The Expansion Feasibility Study managed by Snowden Mining
Industry Consultants now due for completion at the end of
September 2004.
