I am not having a go at you C, your thread was easiest to respond to.
An Institutional Investor is a non-bank person or organisation that trades in large enough share quantities or dollar amounts that they qualify for preferential treatment and lower commissions. Institutional investors face fewer protective regulations because it is assured that they are more knowledgeable and better able to protect themselves. Watching what the big money is buying can sometimes be a good indicator, as they(supposedly) know what they are doing. Some examples of institutional investors are pension funds and life insurance companies.

The above definition tells me one thing and one thing only: it was the easiest way to pocket a cool $33 million without too many regulatory blocks. It does not mean that some astute investor has joined us. They are out for a buck or two and I just hope they are as greedy and manipulative as the people running our SP today and we all make money.
