Lynas lifts Mt Weld estimates
Rare earths miner Lynas Corporation Ltd has significantly increased the estimated resources at its major Mount Weld project in Western Australia.
Lynas is in the development phase of two rare earths projects, a concentration plant at Mt Weld and the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Malaysia.
Rare earths are metallic elements and are used in products ranging from digital televisions, mp3 players and fluorescent light bulbs.
The company on Wednesday said the mineral resource estimate at Mt Weld was now 23.9 million tonnes, up 37 per cent from its previous estimate in September 2010.
The increase comes after an extension drilling program at Mt Weld.
