Groundwater contamination is utter nonsense. Within a few KMs of the JRV site we have a massive mine using huge amounts of cyanide at Lake Cowal in a far more environmentally sensitive area than the Young location (they actually mine within the lake bed itself and have a huge cyanide tailings dam beside it to catch the runoff).
NSW DPI; Planning; DECC; DWE etc put stringent conditions on the mine, in the face of protests by the Greens and some local Aboriginals and if necessary the same would happen at Thuddungra.
If there is a problem, it is not the groundwater!!
